Next up for FCC is our flagship event, the Inishowen 100 on Sunday August 17. Sign for this iconic challenge event is open on Enter early to take advantage of the £25 discounted fee. Distances of 60 miles or 100 miles are available for the riders. Please come and join us!

The club’s Quayside maiden city criterium took place on Tuesday June 10 and judging by local and national feedback was a huge success. Once again thanks to our major sponsor, Quayside and also to our other sponsors Sustrans and Derry City Council.

Race organizer Gavin Campbell congratulated all the winners, Simon Gill(A4) and Darnell Moore, junior, A*, A1, A2, A3. Gavin commented on the challenge of the race featuring the steep climb of Shipquay Street on every lap and complimented the riders on their fortitude. Gavin also paid tribute to the spectators, the marshals and all the sponsors.

FCC’s  vision is to be the premier cycling club in the north west with an emphasis on inclusivity, fun and a focus on all levels of participation in leisure, racing, sportive, and mountain biking events.

The Foyle club always welcomes new members. Please email or if you need more info.

If you a have basic cycling fitness please join our Saturday runs at 0900 from the sport complex, Buncrana Road, L’Derry. You will be welcomed by the most friendly club in the NW of Ireland!  (Basic level of fitness means you are well capable of cycling 35 to 40 m)

Please remember that  your road bike must be in good mechanical order,  dress warmly ready for our weather, carry a water bottle, a banana, a spare tube with tyre levers and wear a helmet.

Sunday club runs leave the complex, Buncrana Road at 0900. They cover 100 km or so at this time of year. They are geared for the more experienced rider. If new it is best to start with a Saturday run and work in to a Sunday ride.

Please note registration with our club is expected after 3 introductory rides.

To all involved in the organisation and marshalling and foodstops on the 2013 Inishowen a great big thanks from your favourite overweight foul and loudmouthed cycling buddy from County Down.

Fantastic set up as always and the weather was kind also.

Some majestic rugged scenery around Malin Head and Kinnego made the pain worthwhile. That and the abuse from hecklers on the roadside and in cars passing by.You know who you are Donnelly

Really glad I was able to participate.

Missed Fergal McGeady grinning as he directed everyone down in Kinnego this year. That was always his favourite spot.
